As the seasons change, so do my books. I get through a lot and am always loath to part with any, much to the VOR’s dismay. Piles of them accumulate all over the house, the bookshelves are full so they are sometimes stacked on the floor. I read more than one at a time, often having four on the go depending on mood – and number of available bookmarks (I hate turned down corners). Summer’s are for fiction, Autumn and Winter non fiction. This is my Autumn collection.
So how’s The Eclipse of Art so far?:)

Love it, sums up a number of my current views on contemporary art. It’s not entirely current ,however ,as it was written 10 years ago. Funny thing is, some statements and opinions need time to make them resonate.

Ah! Robert Hughes, Rome! Had no idea he wrote such a thing. Must be MARVELOUS!

It’s the last book he wrote before he died. I am only just scratching its surface, but I love Bob Hughes. He is such an important, and relevant, art critic – especially to me – the no bullshit, pretentiousness bypass is something I feel fine art sorely needs. I guess that the Rome thing enabled him to go back to his early visits to Italy in the 60’s when he was learning his craft. Life is cyclic.

I responded and don’t know where it went. I was saying that I love Robert Hughes, too, and wish there were more art critics like him.
